We played a "secret" show at the Cake Shop in NYC last night that was nothing short of entertaining.
We played with two really great bands that you should check out:
The Ingenues
Screaming Females
Dear Cake Shop,
Invest in some new drum heads! They need to be changed something fierce.

June 24th @ Cake Shop
Thanks for coming out tonight guys! Especially after we just played 3 days ago, that was really sweet. Cake Shop could not be any more different than Luna Lounge and tonight was just supposed to be a fun show for all of us. (That includes you.) And I think it worked out ok.
We played some stuff we haven't played in a while, John broke a string, I played half the set with my fingernails after dropping and destroying two picks, Saysha couldn't really jump up and down or she would have hit the ceiling (but God bless her, she did her best) and Ryan had no incidents of which to speak. (That I know of anyway.)
We played with The Ingenues and Screaming Females. Good GOD they are good! Screaming Females are touring right now and they are just fucking incredible! I highly recommend both checking them out and buying their CD. It is awesome.
That's all I guess. Pretty fun night.
Also, if you're in the neighborhood and haven't had a chance to pick up a copy of "Existing at Extremes," there are now a few copies for sale at Cake Shop, at 152 Ludlow between Stanton and Rivington. Or if you're not in the neighborhood you can purchase individual songs or the whole album from our online store.
Thanks again everybody for coming out and dancing and being so supportive! We really appreciate it. Until next time...
Set List:
-Dark Side
-This Happens
-Don't Look Back
-Falling Stars
-Real Dreams
-That Girl
-Guiltless
-Stuck In My Head

June 21st @ Luna Lounge
Wow. Last night was one of the best nights I've ever had. I had a BLAST! How about you? Did you have fun? I hope so. That was just ridiculous. :) Thank you so so so much for coming out! Thank you for coming out, thank you for supporting us, and thank you for being part of this incredible journey with us. I really do appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. That was so far the biggest turn out Stewart has ever had!
When John and I went to check out Luna Lounge last week, I was really awed and intimidated, but in a good way. "This place is HUGE!" I had NO idea it was going to be so big. We had a dressing room and a back stage entrance and everything. Kind-of like Mo Pitkin's, only it wasn't a bathroom/backline storage/closet, it was an actual room. Nice. That was kind-of fun. *grin*
I love Demetra. I want to play with them all the time, I can't even tell you. SO SO SO amazing. Not only do they have great songs, they are performers. I was so impressed and again, in so much awe, it was ridiculous. Don't be fooled, their myspace page does not do them justice.
This time we had a real merch table in honor of our real CDs run by one of our people, the lovely Ms. Leslee White, who, give the girl props, went all out and did a great job manning her post. Speaking of props, thank you to everybody who bought CDs!!! We really hope you like them! Feel free to let me know what you think of them. And thank you to the cuties who asked for autographs. You guys are sweet. :)
Oh, speaking of CDs, the deal with Jawbreaker is this: I made a bunch before we went to Ohio in April, but they weren't mixed yet. We got them mixed and I was making a bunch yesterday before the show but didn't have time to make new back covers with the updated track list. (We changed the song order.) So if you bought Jawbreaker and were wondering the actual track list is posted in the blog before this. It should automatically come up on your computer, but if it doesn't, don't worry, you can find it here. To the 12 people who bought Jawbreaker before last night, you have a very rare copy that no longer exists, please feel special. :)
Anyway, we're playing again this Sunday, June 24th at Cake Shop at 10:30 with: The Ingenues and Screaming Females. We've got another fun, silly set planned that is nothing like last night's show so you guys won't be bored. (*hint* Dark Side, That Girl, Real Dreams *hint*)
In other news we're working on our store front and Stewart merch will soon be available online for all our friends who live far far away. We also might be touring the Midwest in August. (I know, Florida, I know, I'm working on it, I promise. *grin*) More on that stuff later though. I'm tired and in dire need of a nap.
Until next time...

What's that?
You can't wait for our new ep?
Well neither can we!! Soon my friends, very, very, very soon.
You may ask:
Where is it?
What's it called?
When is it coming out?
How can I get it?
How many songs are on it?
Can I buy lots and lots of copies?
Will this get me dancing?
Will my friends be jealous that I have a copy and they don't?
Other questions you may find yourself asking:
Do you have T-shirts and other merch?
Does your band need endorsements?
Will you tour overseas?
To be answered soon...
Don't forget- Thursday, June 21, 2007 @ Luna Lounge (www.lunalounge.com)
Doors are at 7pm
Tickets are available!

May 31st @ Mo Pitkin's
Last night was for us. It was for our friends, our fans, our crew. It was a party we threw in honor of music, in honor of New York, and in honor of the community we create around our art. It was HILARIOUS.
Have you guys ever been to Mo Pitkin's? It's on Avenue A between 2nd and 3rd and it's very cozy. There's an upstairs stage and a downstairs stage. The upstairs stage reminded me of Largo in LA on Fairfax. I don't know if anyone's ever been there but it's this really exclusive bar/venue where Aimee Mann plays a lot and apparently Paul Thomas Anderson hangs out there all the time. *shrug* Many lifetimes ago.
We played downstairs. After looking at their website we noticed that they have a lot of acoustic singer/songwriters playing, a lot of 2 pieces, 3 pieces, and a full house backline. That is... if you're using an acoustic guitar or an upright bass. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Mo Pitkin's. It was very quaint. And very good for what they do. But when I went to check it out... surprised isn't the right word... more like "tickled," I was tickled when I saw that the stage could just about fit a drum kit and one other person. (Perfect for Coach! Not so perfect for Stewart or The Quick Flings.)
Regardless, we had fun. But that's because we always have fun. Did you guys have fun? Coach started off the night- I'm pretty sure they opened the door to the opening drum beat of the first song. Pretty cool way to start, I think. And yes, they are just drums and bass, but Coach knows how to play a room and their sound is bigger than it seems. The Quick Flings were AMAZING. Seriously, if you haven't, you need to check these guys out. Talk about small world- the Quick Flings are Linda, (from Strictly Platonic, John's old band,) Mark, (from Tim, my old band,) Abbie, (from The Anabolics and friends with our friends Victor Bravo who we met through Saysha,) and Green Andy who nobody has any personal connection to- but he's great nonetheless.
This was Coach and The Quick Flings debut performances, and it was weird being the "old timers" in the crowd. I guess it has been a year already. Crazy! I think they both did great though, and from the comments I heard afterwards you guys thought so too. Solid songs, great attitudes, and lots of energy. What more can you ask for from a rock band?
We were honored to headline this 90 minute performance. It was so great playing with all our friends, there's nothing else like it. And we decided we were going to try something a little different. We opened with Dark Side, our new metal song. Did everyone like it? Did you like John's Flying V? It's actually Ryan's Flying V, but John borrowed it. In honor of the occasion. Maybe I'll post the lyrics later. It's a very dark song that came from a very dark place and makes me feel oh so much better.
Only Ryan and I could fit on stage, John and Saysha hung out in the crowd. (John had his own little runway to rock down.) What a crew we are- I busted my face earlier in the evening and had half a black eye, John got knocked in the face last week and his cheek is still all yellow, Saysha's new glasses kept slipping off her nose, and there were two very close walls getting in the way of Ryan's arms. Awesome! We rocked our hearts out though, could you guys tell? It was seriously one of the most fun Stewart performances yet. And probably just because we were there with all of you. Thank you so much everyone for coming out! We love you guys.
Our next show is June 21st at the Luna Lounge in Brooklyn. It's also our CD release party. Our double CD release party. We're releasing our live full length album "Jawbreaker," recorded in about 5 hours in our rehearsal space (rah!) and our professionally recorded 5 song EP which will be available through CDBaby and iTunes after the performance. Jawbreaker is only being sold at our shows, and we've only made a limited amount of copies, so get them while you still can.
Until next time folks...
Set List:

-Don't Look Back (I Scream Song)
-Not That Bad
-Falling Stars
-Guiltless

Dark Side Lyrics:
Changes happen so fast, leaving worlds behind
Poetry meant to last, but the bright side is blind
When all worlds collide, we'll see who ends up where
It's this dark side of mine that keeps us going there.
Chorus:
Wishing I could pray for you, but finding nothing left
Knowing it's your own fault, but the pity hasn't left yet
Wishing it would matter what I did and what I saw
Knowing it's tomorrow and you're never gonna call.
And my only defense is I know me well.
Yes, I cared way too much, but it's so hard to tell
What is real these days and what comes from lies
You've left me with no choice and now we've run out of time.
CHORUS
Some other stuff
Some more chorus
Some more verse
And then a long drawn out ending. Rah!
